12 Poverty indicators updated

All of the Poverty indicators featured on the State-Level Data Online System have been updated to include 2005 American Community Survey (ACS) data. This includes ACS data the Census Bureau re-issued on 10/19/2006 (see Update #18 for more details on the error).

• Children in poverty (100%)
• Children in poverty (100%) by race for the U.S.
• Children below 150% poverty
• Children below 200% poverty
• Children below 250% poverty
• Children in extreme poverty (50%)
• Children under age 5 in poverty
• Children under age 6 in poverty
• Persons 18 to 24 in poverty
• Population in poverty
• Single-parent families with related children that are below poverty
• Married-couple families with related children that are below poverty

There are currently ten KIDS COUNT measures: percent low birth-weight babies; infant mortality rate; child death rate; rate of teen deaths by accident, homicide, and suicide; teen birth rate; percent of children living with parents who do not have full-time, year-round employment; percent of teens who are high school dropouts; percent of teens not attending school and not working; percent of children in poverty; and percent of families with children headed by a single-parent. The Data Book also provides background information for each state, including demographic and family income data.
